NDMA is bringing a little bit of style, a little swag, and a little sex to Ottawa’s music scene. The DJ, rapper, and Concrete Runway host has just graced up with another slick video directed by Michael Cumming. While last time it was all about the club and the shots with “Whiskey,” this time things are a little more relaxed, a little more island-r&b flavour… but still, “she wants to dance.”
Disclosure had a strong 2012, but 2013 is already looking like it’ll be the young British duo’s year. The electronic, post-dub producers have unleashed a killer track titled “White Noise.” The song is a collaboration with fellow up-and-comers AlunaGeorge, a British pop/electro duo who have an amazing track record with their releases thus far, including “Your Drums, Your Love,” “Body Music” and “Watching Over You.”
SBTRKT, one of the premiere DJs of the past few years thanks to his killer self-titled debut (2011), has released a live album in vain of the Chemical Brothers, Justice, and the almighty Daft Punk. Above is a video capturing some of the show recorded. The album offers a great taste of what SBTRKT is about live, including a great vocal performance by Sampha, live strings, drums, and mesmerizing visuals which has all been captured by 12 (!)
Karen O and the boys are back again with their much anticipated fourth studio album, officially titled Mosquito. The trippy, gruesome, kinda funny artwork was created by filmmaker Beomsik Shimbe Shim, according to Pitchfork, bringing a modern take the surreal album covers found in the late Seventies and early Eighties. Pitchfork also got the lowdown on the production of the album, by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio and Nick Launay, as well James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem (who is also working on the new Arcade Fire LP).
Justin Timberlake has finally released a new single, 7 years after FutureSex/LoveSounds. The track, titled “Suit & Tie,” encourages the listener to suit up, over sleek synths and references to the soul and funk of the Seventies. A number of references from that era can be recalled, along with Timberlake’s own debut, like a 2013 “Like I Love You.”

The album has a current release date of February 12th, with a lead single titled “Miss Amor” to, presumably, shake your ass to (considering Banks’ track record).
