A home cooked Italian meal with a dash of sheer sophistication and class. This is what you can expect when dining at Tosca Ristorante. Whether you’re craving a rich spaghetti bacon carbonara, savory lasagna, or delectable antipasto, Tosca is the fine dining experience that you desire from an elite eatery with the love and care of a warm family home, each morsel of food prepared with the utmost warmth and attention to detail.

Tosca Ristorante

The warmth and care of family is particularly present and important part of the experience that general manager Fortunato Calabro hopes for you to enjoy, an integral part of Tosca’s inception. “It’s always been about family. My dad helps out, my wife helps out, and my partners, especially with the new location.” From their presence in the downtown core on O’Connor Street, to the new location at Finley Creek in the South Bank area of Ottawa, it’s no wonder that the bond of family has allowed them to maintain success in the capitol city for 15 years running. “Our chef’s been with us for 25 years, and helped with our other restaurants,” he fondly recounts, “He’s like a dad to me. We’re a good family that sticks together.” There is no shortage of respect and gratitude that Fortunato, his family, and staff alike extend to his customers, who have remained as faithful to the restaurant any family would. Any friend or family member who has suggested this restaurant in the past has adamantly insisted on this factor, that not only the food, but experience and atmosphere is the most inviting and familial experience they’ve had apart from their most enjoyable family meals. Whether accommodating to an allergy, or at the request of a specific specialty to be prepared at a moment’s notice, Fortunato asserts “I appreciate the business of the people so it’s the least I can do.”

Some of the most delicious, must try specialities of Tosca’s include the most succulent mussels that you will ever treat your senses to, as well as their renowned, perfectly breaded and seasoned calamari. If you are craving a dessert to sooth your sweet tooth’s cravings, the light, delicious tiramisu is the perfect touch, with just the slightest hint of almond and chocolate that you expect from the classic Italian staple, with an incomparable freshness, as if the dessert was handcrafted specifically for you to capture that indescribable bliss of the perfect dessert. Lastly, you cannot leave such a restaurant without trying any one of their delectable pasta dishes, but if you are looking for the richest of sumptuous pasta dishes to indulge in, the spaghetti bacon carbonara (my personal favorite) bathed in a heavenly cream sauce with bits of pancetta peppered throughout, you will not be disappointed with the rich flavors and textures, not to mention the enormous portion that can serve as a scrumptious snack for later.

Tosca Ristorante

Undeniably exquisite in its décor, the auburn, chestnut, romantic styled adornments encompass you into a world of elegance, accented by the classic black and white frames that capture precious family moments so that the reason for this restaurant’s existence is never soon forgotten by any who have the pleasure to encounter it. An unforgettable experience with a contagious warmth and joy with every visit, satisfy your appetite and soul when you visit Tosca Ristorante!
