Waxahatchee has been one of those artists who seems to scrape the bottom of the barrel. There’s nothing wrong with Katie Crutchfield’s style of producing music yet somehow her musical appearance never accesses as much attention as it deserves. Ivy Tripp manages to be Waxahatchee’s first fully-captivating album.
Bestival was originally a music festival put on in the UK. As with any stereotype given to a certain location, rain is a common element associated with the Brits. As Bestival arrived on Toronto Island, the weather wasn’t unlike a typical day in London. Huge grey clouds overtook the sky and haunted the first day of the fest.
[heading size=”30″ align=”left”]Banks (Saturday)[/heading] Keeping it fairly under the radar, pop superstar Banks shows off her talent through her voice. The blazing set of pipes are her crowning glory. Banks’ style is often described as underground R&B with her voice being compared to Aaliyah. By being covered by high profile media outlets like MTV and BBC Radio 1, Banks has slowly been climbing the social ladder to stardom.
BBC Radio 1 is home to many diverse musicians. From time to time, it allows experimental artists to place a temporary residence as the host of the radio show. Four artists in particular have become largely involved in the British music scene and have each defined themselves through their innovative styles.
Day two of Coachella’s second weekend had a lot to live up to following day one, especially the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The line up wasn’t as deep, lacking the early star power of Metric and Passion Pit, but that doesn’t mean it disappointed. The bands who were on, cashed in strong performances.
