Ottawa art gallery Studio Sixty Six’s upcoming exhibition Erupt, opening with a reception on October 5th (6-9PM) features new works from recent graduates of the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO). Located in Ottawa’s Byward Market, SPAO is an independent, not-for-profit school and career college aimed at giving intensive learning experiences and enriching the culture of photographic arts.

We’re all familiar with the depiction of smaller, commercial galleries in films or on television. Marnie’s character in Girls and Charlotte in Sex and the City perpetuate the trope of the unfriendly Gallerinas in Manolos, generally accompanied by an unpleasant man in a suit hushing visitors in his breathy British accent.
