Having recently signed to the UK duo Disclosure’s label Method Records, London electronic producer William Phillips, better known as Tourist, releases his new single “Together” that has been on repeat for me all weekend long. The track represents a new approach for Tourist, as it is meant for the dance floor.
One of the great music festivals in Canada is a mere 22 days away! While everyone here in the city of Ottawa enjoys the amazing acts performing at RBC Bluesfest, Osheaga 2013 in the great city of Montreal is gearing up to put on memorable performances from such classic acts as ‘The Cure’, Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Pretty Lights, up and coming Azari & III, and so many amazing acts that I can’t even wrap my head around who to focus on!
On day three of my 2013 Coachella experience, the desert finally got to me. I fought off dehydration with plenty of water; I fended away sunburn by lathering on the sunblock. It was the dry desert air that began sucking every bit of moisture from my eyes to the point I just had to close them to stop the burn.
Day two of Coachella’s second weekend had a lot to live up to following day one, especially the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The line up wasn’t as deep, lacking the early star power of Metric and Passion Pit, but that doesn’t mean it disappointed. The bands who were on, cashed in strong performances.
Just getting to Coachella had me wondering if it was going to be more trouble than it was worth. Two flight delays, a cancellation, one rerouting and an emergency landing in St. Louis – I was ready to be fetal. After a 24-hour day, I made it to Los Angeles. My Crew and I didn’t think it would take us another whole day to get to camp.
There wasn’t a hologram or a Daft Punk (in-person) showing at Coachella’s first weekend of the 2013 event. However, R. Kelly did make a surprise appearance with Phoenix, and Karen O tried to swallow a microphone; but not even a Sunday sandstorm could ruin the party. Don’t tell me any more spoilers or send me links to the webcast.
