The Shochiku Kabuki x Uniqlo Clothing Collab

For Uniqlo’s latest collaborative effort the retailer has enlisted one of Japan’s best-known performers, actor Ennosuke Ichikawa IV. He actively creates and stars in a variety of Kabuki productions, and has been dubbed one of the most popular performers in Japan. Shochiku Kabuki production company is also a well respected company whose craft remains a well-respected entertainment form in Japan. Through its new collection, Uniqlo hopes to bring the “traditional world of performance art to the world of international pop culture.

The collection capsule is comprised of 15 T-shirts and 16 pairs of ‘steteco’ – relaxed-fit, wide leg shorts, each motif has been adapted directly from traditional costuming worn by Kabuki performers.
