Without a doubt, the constant use of iPhones and iPods is everywhere and not going away soon; whether listening on a bus ride, a walk, while working, or just trying to ignore the world around you. Thanks to this audio-revolution, the accessories that correspond have become just as crucial, especially in the metropolitan world where nothing can be more crucial than the ability to ignore the rush of crowds or traffic, and look damn fine doing it.
One of the most fascinating and talented members of Odd Future, Earl Sweatshirt has already formed a mythology in hip hop culture thanks to his boarding school exile after the release of his first album. Sweatshirt is by far one of the strongest rappers in Odd Future, working on his talent like Frank Ocean does on his singing, or Tyler the Creator does on crazy productions.
When one thinks singer-songwriter, an image is immediate in many listener’s minds; introspective, usually serious, men or women with powerful vocals that sit at a piano or with an acoustic guitar, bearing their souls. As electronic, dance and other digital music continues to become a staple in mainstream music, elements of dub and electronic are finding its way into the genre of singer-songwriters.
Charli XCX has brought us some sweet and dark pop this year, from “I Love It” to “You’re the One.” So it’s only fitting that on Halloween we get another treat from the indie-darling of sugary, but poison-filled, treats. Here Charli collaborates with Brooke Candy, an up and coming rapper/tumblr starlette.
