Luxury Cruise

From gold leaf makeup to a gold gas tank purse, Luxury fashion brand Chanel went all out when presenting their 2015 Cruise Collection to an exclusive set in Dubai. A temporary stage was created on a private island that could only be reached by ferry. Attendees were met by a lavish structures, and interior designs embellished with the iconic logo.and that was only the beginning. There was no shortage of opulence especially with the clothing. However the collection did follow the strict standards of Dubai while fusing old and modern Middle Eastern styles and using many of Chanel’s signature tweeds.
The entire spectacle demonstrates a culture of frivolity and excess: Gold in the makeup, private ferries for guests, and a gold structure that will be dismantled at the end of the event definitely gave the event and old world feel.
Designer Karl Lagerfeld couldn’t go without making a political statement by having the models carry purses resembling gas tanks down the runway. At the end of the day it was the brand itself that made a bold statement with this exclusive event for a select crowd where it seems no expense was spared.
