With a frantic, headbanging, hard partying sound, Acid Priest has already made an impact on the local Toronto music scene. The four-piece band hailing from Stouffville, Ontario has been around for less than a year and already they’ve accomplished feats that bands take years to do. Their first LP, Outta Control, was released in mid January, in March they toured southern Ontario with Ottawa locals Old Rules, and now on May 7th they’re playing alongside Monster Truck for Canadian Music Week.

With SXSW and Coachella behind us, it’s time to turn our attention north. Canadian Music Week is a nine day festival showcasing both local and international talent. The fest has graduated from bitter March to balmy May, inviting the less cold resistant music fans. With an overwhelming number of artists, this year is sure to be bigger and better than anything before.
Although they’ve only been around for a short time, Ottawa based band PINE is already tearing up the local scene. Having already headlined their own show and opened for the internationally acclaimed Balance and Composure, PINE is showing us just how good Ottawa’s music scene can be.
It’s hard to pinpoint PINE’s specific genre.
2014 saw production duo Snakehips release their latest single ‘Days With You’ feat Sinead Harnett alongside them regularly hitting the top spot on the hype-machine with their faultless remixes (Banks, Raury, The Weeknd, Wild Belle, Bondax). All of which aided the impressive growth of the London based act and resulted in them being one of the most in demand teams to seek out for remixes and DJ shows – here and in the US.

Canada can be a dark, cold and damp place to live for a good chunk of the year. When summer hits though, us Canadians do it up right. We take advantage of those sunny days and short nights. We race to patios, we explore the wide stretches of forest, we find that summer lover, and most importantly (in my mind)… we dance.
Each year in early June, Manchester Tennessee holds one of the greatest festivals in the world, Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo, a festival for true music lovers and festival junkies, has one of the best atmospheres you could ever experience. Headlining this years festival is the legendary Elton John, newlywed Kanye West, Jack White (admitted hater of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys), Nicole Richie’s Dad Lionel, and Vampire Weekend.
