James Blake premiered his latest track, “Retrograde” off of his sophomore LP titled Overgrown, to be released April 8th. “Retrograde” is significantly more positive and lighter than “The Wilhelm Scream,” and the majority of James Blake. The slightly Nineties r&b tinge recalls works from the CMYK EP in some ways. James Blake is one of the premiere artists of the Post-Dubstep genre with high expectations for this sophomore release after the success of his self-titled debut that contained ”The Wilhelm Scream,” “Limit to Your Love,” and the deluxe version’s Bon Iver collaboration “Fall Creek Boys Choir.”
Chvrches is always welcomed by my ears when I’ve put on my headphones as of late, although with only 2 songs released thus far, the band have still amassed a large number of plays on my iPhone. The use of electronic elements feels redundant to speak of at this point (since it’s hard to find a new artist or group not using some sort of beats or synths).
Disclosure had a strong 2012, but 2013 is already looking like it’ll be the young British duo’s year. The electronic, post-dub producers have unleashed a killer track titled “White Noise.” The song is a collaboration with fellow up-and-comers AlunaGeorge, a British pop/electro duo who have an amazing track record with their releases thus far, including “Your Drums, Your Love,” “Body Music” and “Watching Over You.”
Diplo knows how to make a fine-ass mix, any objections? Didn’t think so. So, without further adieu, may I introduce you to the 3 hours BBC Halloween Mix Diplo whipped up, including a number of great tracks and 16 Three 6 Mafia tracks to finish off what will hopefully be a frightening and fantastic night.
