If you haven’t been to Osheaga before, your ignorance should not be considered bliss. With incredible performances in the 2013 edition from Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar (the newest member of the ‘should have won a grammy’ club), and the ultra buzz worthy Wild Belle, Osheaga 2013 was an event that truly solidified the festival as one of the best that Canada has to offer.
It’s become a yearly ritual for me. All roads in early August will lead to Montreal’s Parc Jean Drapeau for a year’s worth of auditory jubilation, delectable eating and feverish festival fun. With back-to-back record-breaking years in attendance, it’s clear that Osheaga has embedded itself onto the list of North America’s premier music festivals.
One of the great music festivals in Canada is a mere 22 days away! While everyone here in the city of Ottawa enjoys the amazing acts performing at RBC Bluesfest, Osheaga 2013 in the great city of Montreal is gearing up to put on memorable performances from such classic acts as ‘The Cure’, Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Pretty Lights, up and coming Azari & III, and so many amazing acts that I can’t even wrap my head around who to focus on!
Hyped & Ready to Conquer The music industry today is not the same as previous generations. Artists are discovered fast. Fan bases develop early and grow internationally at the same rate a town would’ve once learned of a band playing in a garage down the street. Social media and the unfathomable number of music blogs have made the competition fierce for acclaim and success, but also allows the strongest to survive and proposer at a quickened pace.
